# 48 - One More Push

Fellow Art Lovers:

No huge announcements this time. I just want to show you a few more works, and also share a few ideas with you.

The ideas: I’ve talked so much about freedom, you’d almost think I’m an escapee from the old Soviet Union, which I hope you know I’m not. But now, here’s another idea – the last push or one more bit of effort. For the last few months, when I thought I could declare a painting completed, I wait. Then, I look at it again, and I ask myself what else I could do that would really improve it. One more push.

Guess what? I’ve come up with good ideas, and the paintings keep making progress. They say more, they’re more engaging, and they’re simply better.

Not really revolutionary, but it sure works for me.

All three of the paintings I’m showing you are relatively large. I wanted to paint “Alone IV” because it was just a beautiful scene, actually not far from my studio. “The Last Words” showed me an interesting contrast. And “Benjamin Franklin, Portrait” was just a huge, impressive, expansive scene I had to give it a try. This painting is not finished, maybe about half done, but I thought it would be interesting for you to see how it develops.
